Job Searchin' again

Last night I went online and checked the Job Net. I found a whole whopping THREE possible jobs, with only 2 being ones I'd probably be good at/like.

So, today, I called two of the places, and Schneider National to find out what the hell happened with the follow-up call. I also called Diane, because we were supposed to meet today (but that got cancelled again).

The first place I called, they said that the job had enough applicants, but they had another position open (but it really REALLY sucked so I said not interested). Oh yeah, this was the place that I could work, but not necessarily like or be the greatest at.

The second place I called, the guy to contact was in a meeting, but I asked the secretary if I could just send my resume via email and she said that would be great. So, I did that shortly afterwards.

I called Schneider National, but got a machine. I told her to call me back and update me on the interview status.

I called Diane, found out that Goodwill had a job freeze, but I was supposed to be the one they were going to hire (cause the chick was really impressed!) Ha! What a joke! I told Diane what I had been up to for the past week. And then I told her more specifically what I'm looking for. I need benefits, because I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get SSI. As if they would really just give it to me because of "depression". But at the time of applying, I was in dire straits... err... more so than now. (because at least I can make rational decisions and have froze some of my credit cards and have some other assistance).

So, after I finished on the phone, I went online to send out my resume. I sent it to two companies, both of which I think I'd fit in from what the job descriptions said: En Chem Inc. and Information Management Corporation. I'll let you know more when I have heard back from them. I don't think I'd mind either job, but I am leaning towards En Chem. They are a certified environmental lab dealing with chemicals and stuff all the time! How appropriate is that for me?! I'm Super Recycle Girl! hehe.

So, even though I have had a few bad days in the past, I put them behind me and am trying to look towards the future. Damn! I'm proud of my attitude right now! :)

This is the reply I've received already from En Chem!:

Dear Ms Bxxxxxxx,

This is to let you know I received you e-mail with attached resume. Thank you for your interest in working with En Chem.

Friday I will stop receiving applicants. On Monday I will review applications/resumes and determine who to call in for a visit and then schedule interviewing late next week.

Currently I have over 35 applicants on my desk. If you receive a call from me I will be asking if you are able to come in for a visit. Otherwise, I wish you success in your employment search in this tight job market.

Sincerely,

Ron XXXXXXX,
En Chem, Inc. H/R Manager

How exciting is that?! I usually don't write entries this early in the day (it's only 5pm), so I'm impressed that he replied so quickly! Yippee!
