a good day, despite the loses

I'm listening to Fiona Apple right now, yet I'm surprising upbeat. Not that I'm bouncing off the walls or anything. I'm just saying that when I usually listen to Fiona, I'm depressed and I just want to stay that way. But somehow I just had "Criminal" in my head and wanted to hear Fiona's voice again.

I'm writing this entry actually on the 19th, because I didn't go online yesterday (or today's entry date). But from here on out, I will write like I'm thinking it's yesterday.

I watched the Packers vs. Falcons with the shitty ending. I couldn't believe that we blew it within the last minute or so to try to win instead of just going into overtime. It was home-field advantage! What was Sherman thinking? After the Packers loss, I decided I would root for my second favorite NFL team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

They played the division leader, The Chicago Bears. I had double cheering power, because, if the Bears won, they would be a game ahead of the Packers in the division. So, by the half I was proud of the poorly performing Bucs offense and looking optimistically for second half to bring a touchdown or two. The score was 9-7 Bucs.

3rd quarter: The Bears pull 15 points out of their asses and the Bucs act like they are sitting in the stand and watching the game instead of playing. Then, I was told by the infamous John Madden that the Bucs are a 4th quarter team and they sure proved that they were. With about 6 minutes left in the game, they had thrown more points on the board.

One thing that I did pull away from the game, other than the sheer excitement I used to feel for football was John Madden's wonderous fascination with the NFL Thanksgiving turkey! He was blabbering the majority of the game about some meteor shower and turkeys. He wasn't making any sense, and Pat Summerall called him on it! It was fucking awesome! Then Madden said something about him not taking a meteor shower... it was there for the turkeys. He was losing it on TV! It was so funny! :)

Ok... so here's the quote I've supposedly been building up to:
"If I were those birds, come Thursday ... They better watch out."

--John Madden, about pelicans, with Thursday being Thanksgiving

Summerall took it into his own hands to talk reason into Madden. He asked how could pelicans be mistaken for turkeys. Madden said, someone out hunting might see a big bird like that and think it's a turkey. Summerall then said that nobody could mistake a pelican for a turkey. It was so funny I had to turn up the TV to hear anything else cause I was laughing so loud.

Ok. Short story long (which I'm famous for): the Bucs lost by 3 points with 5 seconds left on the clock. It was sad, cause Gramatica was not automatica this time! :-(

During both games, I was thinking about what to do for Thanksgiving. Here's the possible scenarios:

1. I go with Mom to Grandma's for Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
2. I go to Dad's for turkey on Friday and get to watch Buffy all day Thursday (and the Packers beat the Lions).

Option Number One:
There is gonna be some major VCR programming to do.
I don't know what to do with Tierna. (Her water supply only lasts two days --tops).
I don't know if I can handle sudden submersion with multiple relatives in a close quarters for more than one day.
Mom will want to stay long enough on Sunday to go to church.
The food will be excellent, but my stomach might freak out.

Option Number Two:
I don't have to travel far.
I can tape/watch Buffy and not miss anything new.

I know there are other things I wanna write about the two options, but I feel lazy now, so I'm gonna play some games on iwin.com.
