A day of the past

I had said that I was going to have to write about past events one of these days... and today is one of these days.

Today's tale will be about moving into my apartment.

I moved into my apartment (that I'm currently residing) in March of this year. In fact, I moved in over my B-day weekend. Dad, Erich, and Mom all helped me move in. In a sense, it was a very VERY helpful birthday present from all of them.

After bringing in a few things on my own on the last day of February, I still didn't have any furniture. I mean, I HAD, but didn't have it in the apartment yet. Even though I felt like I had moved a lot of stuff in the first few days of March, I didn't feel like it was home yet.

So, on my birthday (the 4th), Dad and Erich did most of the heavy lifting and brought my furniture up to my apartment. Mom helped with boxes and some unpacking.

A couple of weeks later, I had the place pretty much unpacked and it had that "lived in" feel to it. (Much like it does now... except the "lived in" is much more exaggerated!!) Maxine was happy with the new place right away, primarily because she kept thinking that the WHOLE house was ours.

I didn't have Tierna or Pikku yet, so Maxine didn't have anyone to be jealous of. She would run around the apartment and look to me to chase her around. But after a short while, she would want me to open my door so she could go downstairs. (Let me explain a tidbit as to why she thought she could just rule this house: I had lived with Dad for just under a month and she was the only pet there, and had free reign over the ENTIRE house. Now that she could see, hear, and smell more house than just my apartment, she thought it was the same deal.)

Unless I think of something else about moving in, I really don't have anything to add right now. FYI: this is the first installment of a long list of past days' writings. I hadn't kept a journal at all for almost a year, so I have to make up for lost time.
