Neverending Story

November 15, 2002 *

First off, last night, Ryan and I went to go see the new Harry Potter movie (before opening night, due to some great deal that Ryan's company made or something of the sorts. Technically, I wasn't supposed to be able to go, but Ryan got an extra ticket somehow). If you like the first one, and you were hoping it had a few more chills and thrills, this movie with be your answer. It was very good. It was a bit more mature than the first one, and Emma Watson (who plays Hermione -sp?-) doesn't have such a big part, so the female british thing isn't as annoying. :) hehe... Still, I thought it was better than the first.

(I had just seen the first on DVD on Monday).

Now for the title of the entry. Tonight Sarah and Tim invited us to celebrate Sarah's birthday (yesterday) by going out to eat and see The Neverending Story at midnight! Yikes! That's late, considering I didn't sleep well.... and Sarah doesn't like to stay out late, let alone go to bed late. (Or the other way around... oops).

I haven't seen that movie since I was a kid, and at that, I don't remember much. I just remember a kid that rides a flying dog thingy. I really didn't remember anything else.

So watching the movie again was something I had wanted to do. I was surprised at the beginning... how all the clouds rolled. I wonder how they did that special effect in 1984.

The rest of the movie was okay. I think I remember it being better, but I'm not sure. Being that the movie was old, and it was an original reel, it had a few flaws. But surviving 18 years of storage somewhere is incredible.

Ahh... the 80s. Those moppy boy haircuts. Yes, indeed.

I was sad when the how Atrex (I think that was it's name) died. It was an intense scene. Being that a horse and a boy were the only ones in it. The acting was very well done. (The movie was directed by the same guy that has done other intense films, like Das Boot and The Perfect Storm).

I don't know what else to say... except for I had lots of cake before going to the movie, so I had been on a sugar high right before it, and then I fell asleep during the movie for brief moments a few times. (They didn't start the movie until about 12:45 AM!)
