Cleaning house

After having a decent day for once, I decided to do something positive for myself. (and my pets too!!) I cleaned up the coffee table, the boxes underneath it, and the little room behind the chicken wire.

Let me start with the coffee table (and the little white picnic-y end table lawn furniture thingy that Mom gave me). I had had so much crap piled up on that thing that I almost forgot what it looked like. I was motivated by playing some music and letting my be charged by it. I know that sounds kinda hokey, but that's sorta how it happened. At least, that's the best why I can describe it.... now.

I just started picking up things off the coffee table. At first it was a magazine or two... then I had a lap-full. I realized that I had to file them away or throw them out. And if you know me, then that means you know I'm gonna do the Tierna thing -- pack rack 'em. After the magazines were cleared off the table, there was a little smiggen (sp?) of table showing. That got me more motivated!

I took the ... well, ... just plain GARBAGE off next. That's when I realized that cleaning isn't an evil thing... it's just something that prevents messiness. Nothing to be feared! :-)

After I cleared the two tables, I frowned. The next task: the crap under the coffee table. I know it's only a few boxes and Tierna food, but it's still a big chore. When I finished the re-organizing of the junk that belongs in or out of the boxes, I put them away. Not just sitting in the middle of the living room. I actually put them away.

I mean, why else are closets made? They are supposed to store stuff. So, with my subtle hints leading you to the only logical conclusion, you have no doubt figured out that I put most of the boxes in the big closet. I guess I'll never get past the whole "storing stuff in boxes" thing. (That's the Tierna-half of me speaking... remember? Little Miss Pack Rat?)

Now that I had a newly cleared end table thingy (the white one), I could put something useful on it. I have been wanting to hook up my stereo for quite some time now, so I tackled my next project of the night.

I had to first figure out how to get to the room behind the chicken wire without disrupting my X-mas lights and tearing out the walls (or something else if I had super human strength! hehe). After debating and arguing with myself and the chicken wire, I finally got in there. I retreived my stereo base, and the (*gasp*) box that it was sitting on.

I just realized I ended that last sentence in a preposition. Oops!

Dusting off my speakers was fun! I almost choked on a hairball-sized dust bunny! Kinda scary, actually. But anyways, I plugged in one of the speakers after measuring the cord length. Just the little math/science part of me that wanted to figure out where to place the speaker so I didn't have bundles of cord (or lack of cord) all over the place. Wanna know the actual length of the cord? It was a long cord... that's just a hint. I'm gonna tell you, but only I'm not gonna use numeric values. I don't want you to scan down and read it really quick. That's why I'm stalling now. Hehe. :-) I like doing stuff like this sometimes... and it's one of those times now. Could you tell?! No. Seriously, could you tell? Alright, alright. No need to get snippy! I'll tell you how long it was. He he. That's like a promise or something. Right? Well, let me just continue with my story a bit first.

I plugged the stereo into my DVD player and had audio! Dual-speaker audio, in fact! What a thrill. It's like I was having an early X-mas or something. I was like a little kid all excited about a new toy or so I guess. It was thirty six feet and I put in a DVD and started playing it. I didn't actually watch it right away, I just had it playing while I draped the super long cord around the room. After all was done with the DVD player/stereo hook up, I just sat there and marveled at my burst of enthusiasm for REALLY getting something done.

Finally, after the movie was done, I started going through that box that the stereo had originally been sitting on. It was filled with pictures! How fun was that?! What a great way to end a night. Looking at pictures of good times. (and few bad... aka Neil).

Oh yeah! Before I forget. I ended up using that little white picnic-y table as the stand for my stereo base. It was like the two pieces were made for each other! They fit perfectly together. So, again. That is another nice thing. Only problem is I still have to find the remote for the stereo. Then all will be right in the audio world of my electronics... for now. :-)
