She has this thing about getting woken up. (She's kinda like me in that aspect. If you wake me up, I'm crabby all day.) She will make this little bitchy face (with her nose all scrunched up) and blink her eyes a few times. (Or maybe it just looks like she's blinking and more like she's preparing for a punch to the face).
And if I try to pick her up immediately after waking her, she goes all Muhammad Ali on me. She starts swinging her fists like there's no tomorrow. I believe that if she were any bigger, I would have scars all over my fingers (or just the tips of them because she can't reach any higher when my hand is pointed downward -- aka the position it's in when I reach in her cage/aquarium).
She's like a very VERY miniature kangaroo. She just balances her body on her little bum and back legs. She sits up and pounds away at my finger. It's hilarious to see. I wish I had someone else here to videotape sometime. That would be priceless.
I wonder what she would do if she had another dwarf hamster to play with. I bet she would be able to kick it's ass! She works out all the time. And I found out she's gotten to be a pretty good climber. (I was lounging on the bed and letting her run around. She scaled my jeans up to my hip.) She's fully grown now, so I guess she's just trying to become a miniature body builder now. :-) Atta girl, Pikku!
You know, I bet she's been working out so much so she can take on her "ma ma", better known to all as Maxine. I think of them as mother/daughter because of their coloring. And Maxine hasn't tried to kill her, unlike mean fat ole Tierna (whom I love and cherish). hehehe. The times that Maxine jumps in Pikku's cage when Pikku's sleeping should be something else that needs to be videotaped.
Let me explain. Big, fluffy cat-o-mine jumps in a 10-gallon fish tank (Pikku's home) and starts sniffing around like she owns the place. Mind you, from tip of nose to tail standing straight on end, Maxine fits length-wise with about an inch to spare. It's cramped quarters when little miss meany wakes up. She doesn't take crap from anyone. It's obvious, she takes on someone hundreds of times her size (me). Weighing in at just under an ounce, our champion takes on the challenger. Pikku swats at Maxine's toes and the massive 8 pound cat jumps out of the tank and is long gone.
I can just picture Pikku under her little cardboard house dusting herself off after a match well won. :-) My little hero.
