A walk down memory .... match?

I was browsing my encounters on the dating site I signed up for, when I came across a face that looked kinda familiar. Hmmm, I know I know this face. But who is he?

After opening up his bio and looking at his height and weight, I looked at the picture again. Man! I know this guy. But where do I know him? Then it hits me! It's someone I knew in High School. Not just anyone... someone I graduated with!

I grabbed my senior year yearbook and turned to the page he was on. His hair is much different, but it's still the same guy. In high school, Jim had wild curly hair. In the picture I saw, it was really short and wasn't looking the least bit curly or wavy. I couldn't believe it! Jim... I'm not gonna say the last name, but Jill, if you are reading, you know him and the story of Papa Smurf.

Then I checked my matches. Rerunning them again, I started going through some of the later pages (not needed to see the 1 through 20 50 billion times, I wanted to see something else for a change). And what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a guy that loves TV more than any other. It's Stubby! Holy shit! This is so weird.

Let me tell you how I know Stubby (which is not his real name, but I don't think I ever knew his real name). I went to college with him. He was an electrical engineer. I met him through Keithy. (ahh... Keithy... how I miss you). I remember the first thing I learned about Stubby -- Keith told me how he followed Stubby one time to the "bubbler". Keith had no idea what it was, being from Michigan and all. He was curious to see or know what a bubbler was. That's my first memory of Stubby. Knowing we had something in common.

Not that much in common, though. I was in Keith and Stubby's room when I first saw/learned about Pokemon. That's something else that I will always remember about him. That, and the fact that Keith kept claiming that they didn't have dust bunnies in the room, but really hairball monsters. Keith was always afraid of the things that got sucked under Stubby's bed by the hairball monsters.

Good times. Good times.

FYI: Stubby got his nickname in elementary school, where he chewed his pencils until they were tiny stubs and then used them. Nothing else... it was just one of those names that stuck.
