Reunion night

February 9, 2003 *

Today started out rather normal. I was lazy, Ryan and I sat around. Then he eventually went into work. (He has more work to do now than most times). I was on the computer in the evening, asking him what he wanted to do for dinner or something mundane like that, when I noticed someone else got online.

Low and behold, Wess sends me a message saying, "Hey! Squirmy worm!"

I started laughing and was so excited to talk to someone from my past, I had been feeling like I was losing touch with everyone, so I decided to try to find friends of mine on ICQ. The odd thing was that I couldn't find Wess. I had tried several variations of what I believed was his username and then I tried his email, and nothing.

But he contacted me because he was able to get all his IMs working at once and I was online. I was asking him how he was doing, and he wasn't surprised when I told him that I was still unemployed. I told him I had moved to California. He's in Florida. We both opted out of the snowy midwest for warmer climates. Makes tons of sense for both of us.

As conversation was picking up, just like old times, I got a "knock, knock" from ICQ telling me that someone else was online. Turns out... it was Zack!

Wow... two people I hadn't talked to in a long time. Now I can again! Zack tells me that he's still in grad school but he changed colleges. He recalls when we last spoke... it was almost 3 years ago! I was shocked that it had been so long, and that I had forgotten how long it had been and that he recalled exactly the last time we spoke.

There were many things that I had forgotten. But Zack filled me in. He then told me about who got married, who got engaged, where people are living. He is still in the college scene, so I guess it makes it easy to contact him instead of him contacting others. People lose touch after college, but I'm glad I was told about friends of mine (they were not REALLY close back then, but they were friends nonetheless).

I was so thrilled with talking to my friends again that I forgot to talk to them about things going on in my life (like that's much, but still... important to me). I talked about Mom and her Wire Whimsies, which you can find at StreetFairAmerica.com! I'm such a pimp.

I talked to each of them for a long time and I ended up saying to both of them that I didn't want so much time to go by before we speak again. Being that I'm so far away from everyone, I'm very grateful for the internet and chat programs.
