A good find

August 3, 2002 *

I woke up today, and called Mom. She came to pick me up, and she asked if I wanted to go to Wal-mart before stopping at her house (to make more whimsies). I thought it was a good idea. So, off we headed.

We had every intention to go... I'm sure.... ummm.... yeah... something like... ummm... what was I talking about? ... oh a rummage sale sign... looks like fun... not to far away... can we stop there first to see if they have some more jigsaw puzzles?.... sure.... ok, it's just down the street... oh wait... I see another sign for another sale... wait! what was the address again?... oh... why don't we just head down this street... I'm sure we'll find it... oh another sign.... rummage sales are fun.... you never know what you're going to get....

*Stop*

*Exit car*

*look around*

Hmm... that place didn't have much. I guess we'll just drive down the street because there is another sale down the block or so.

Oh!? What's this? A bath mat! I need one of those. A quarter? Ok. *dig in pockets, pull out quarter* Cool! now I have a bath mat!

*Get back in car*

*Drive down the street, about two blocks*

*Exit car*

Ohh... Mickey! *looking around*... some pants... nothing really. Ok. I guess we can head out.

*Enter car again*

*drive around neighborhood*

*read more and more sale signs*

*stop, park, exit car*

"Ryan would be so amazed at the amount of parking around here." ... look at all the clothes... all the tables are marked what sizes....

*walk to the small table*

ohh... look at this.... Carisa, look at this... oh Mom feel this... this is pretty.... look at the sleeves... oh this is really nice.... this one has the tag still on it... this one looks brand new... oh... this is really soft... Mom, look at this color.... oh, Carisa, look at the pretty flowers on this one... Mom, I don't like flowers... oh... this is nice.... wow... none of these look worn... the tags are still on these... what did these people do, rob a store?... so many clothes... oh... only a dollar for each of these things on this table... wow!

Then someone running the sale stops by and we ask about all the tags still on the clothes. Apparently, some older lady lost her husband and she had this thing about shopping. She had her house nearly filled with bags and bags of clothes that were never worn! When her house was cleaned out, there were FOUR TRUCK-LOADS of CLOTHES!!!!

Wow!

that box out in the front has free stuff, pants, turtlenecks, whatever.

Mom and I keep the chatter up about looking at this and that. I have quite a pile of stuff, and then I realize that there are pants in the actual garage. We head over there and get me some pants.

Some of the stuff looked a tad big, but there were all name-brand things... good dress pants, nice quality, no ironing, machine-washable... good bargain!

After Mom and I have pawed through, and help re-folding stuff, we go to pay. Only $18!!!!!!!

Then Mom and I head to the boxes out in the front that have the free stuff. We start looking through them... so many things. So many that will fit... and even if I don't wear them, they are free, so I can sell them in a future rummage sale if I don't.... such a deal!

I have to get another bag to put this stuff in.

When that bag gets filled, I get another and I think this is the best $8.00 I've spent (Mom paid for $10.00). I have a whole new wardrobe of dressier clothes! Like work clothes! All nice stuff! I still can't believe it! :)
