Chipmunk paradise

You will never believe what happened to me today!!!! I could barely believe it myself. In fact, I was so shocked that it could even be done, that when one of my friends asked to take my picture doing it, I wanted to have the moment captured forever.

By now, I'm sure you are curious about what "it" is, huh? Well, I won't hold it off any longer....

I was walking up the little walkway to the counseling services building (cause I was taking a personality test thingy) and a chipmunk ran onto the path and stopped about 3 feet in front of me. First of all, I was shocked that a chipmunk would make itself seen to a human in an obvious way. Second of all, when I took a step closer, it started to charge me! I couldn't believe what I was seeing! This little chipmunk stopped short of my shoe by about one inch!!!

This little guy was very brave. I took a step back so I could observe him a bit. He ran away from me this time. I took another step forward and the chipmunk charged me again! I just thought, this little dude has some B I G balls!

I went into the building and mentioned that a chipmunk thought I was a weird looking tree or something. The secretary said, "Oh my goodness, We forgot to feed 'em today". So, I take the test. Get ready to leave and the secretary says I can go feed them. So her and I go with the sunflower seeds and make a small pile. She walked back inside and sure enough two little chipmunks ran up to the pile and stuffed their cheeks and ran off. They came back numerous times, everytime started with emptied cheeks.

Soon enough, I was sitting on the cement, with the sunflower seed pile about two inches in front of my legs. I sat and observed up close. Yadda, yadda, yadda. Then I had pet Skitter (the more bold one I had met before entering the building). I was amazed at how soft he was! It was the softest thing I ever felt! :-) He was softer than any bunny fur I ever petted. He was even softer than my little Mikey Man!

Later still, I decided to put the seeds on my hand and let them stuff their cheeks, taking the seeds off my hand. It was so special when I could feel their little tongues flick in and out numerous times within a second. It was all just so amazing!

Then Amanda in the Troupe with me saw me and asked if she could take my pic. I was more than thrilled! I didn't think anyone would believe me. I knew that if Skitter came up again, he would let me pet him. I only got to pet Skatter once. (I named then about 2 seconds before Amanda showed up). Skatter was, as nature has a way of doing things, much softer than Skitter. I could tell them apart by their little tails and mostly from the little imperfections on their fur (Skatter has a slit in his left ear and Skitter has a little line of fur shortened near his rump).

Amanda set up shop on the extremely near picnic table and held still. Soon enough, Skitter came up to me and started packing away from the seeds on my right hand. I reached out and petted him with 2 or 3 fingers and Amanda took the pic. It was one of the most incredible moments of my life. It completely cheered me up for most of the rest of the day! :-)

Ok, I need sleepy.
