Craft Sale
March 23, 2002
Mom had asked me about a week ago if I could help her with today's craft
sale. I said yes, so here's how my day went:
- 6:21 am
- I woke up naturally. Thanks to Maxine, my alarm clock had
been turned off. I was supposed to wake up at 6 am. I hauled ass to the
shower, then ate as I tied my shoes.
- 6:44 am
- Mom called to tell me she was leaving the house to pick me up.
I hadn't even combed my hair yet, so I told her to give me 2 more minutes.
- 6:46 am
- I was waiting at the curb for Mom. I couldn't believe how
fast I got ready.
- 7:00 am
- We arrived at the school (where the sale was being held) and
started unloading the car. It was cold out, so with the gym doors wide
open, the craft area got really cold as well.
- 8:30 am
- All set up. I'm still freezing. The doors have been closed
for a short time now, but the room is icy. I'm in my Packers polo shirt.
Brr... To warm up, I decide to walk around to look at the other crafters'
things.
- 9:00 am
- The doors open to the public. A stream of people walk in.
The crafters next to us had some outdoorsy garden things. People noticed
these big objects and ended up buying that sorta stuff.
- 10:30 am
- Feels like Mom and I have been here a few minutes, but really
time has been going fast. I was finally starting to feel warm. Mom
commented a few times about how there weren't as many people as she was
hoping for.
- 10:45 or 11 am
- Judy, Mom's friend, shows up. Mom is off looking at the other
crafters' things. Judy and I talk until Mom shows up again. When Mom
shows up, Judy, Mom and Judy's husband chat and chat and chat.
- 12:30 pm
- I'm hungry. Mom gives me money and I go eat. Mmmm... food.
Good price... tasty. There's meat. I'm happy. (FYI: I haven't had meat
in a long time, so it was a nice welcome treat to my tummy). hehe
- 12:45 pm
- Mom's turn for lunch. (Food wasn't allowed in the gym,
although other crafters and shoppers/browsers couldn't read all those
OBVIOUS neon signs... but anyways... I never said people were smart).
- 1:00 pm
- Mom and I make crafts. A few more sales are made, but the
business seems to be getting sluggish. Things were going pretty good in
the morning, but now things were hitting a lull.
- 2:30 pm
- I make one last wall hanging/sun catcher wire thingy. It's
uglier than all get-up. Mom says that if it doesn't sell by X-mas, it's
going to be a present for me. It's just plain butt-ugly! Oops...
nobody's perfect! :-)
- 3:00 pm
- The sale is over. Most other people started packing up 20
minutes ago and were nearly all boxed up again. The doors opened now and
the cold air surged in again!
- 3:45 pm
- All packed up. In the car, heading "home". Amazing how
quickly things get packed up versus setting up.
- 4:00 pm
- At a craft store. The one next to Petco, because I wanted to
see the little critters, like usual. I used to visit there when I had a
working car... just because. I wandered and looked at the baby rats, and
the MAMMOTH dwarf hamster they had. This pupper was HUGE! I don't know
if he was just fat or if Pikku is just a runt. Who knows?!
- 4:30 pm
- At another craft store. Looking for more buttons per request
of many browsers/shoppers. Wandering, wandering. More buttons. Eyes
going blurry. Mom and I both hungry. Hmmm... perhaps we should just go
now. Tired of walking. Yes, leaving is a good idea.
- 5:15 pm
- Dinner is cooking and the car is partially unloaded. Mikey
is whining and crying. Penny is bouncing around, looking for me to play
with her. Teek is nowhere to be seen. Mom and I talk about the sale.
She says she was kinda disappointed that there weren't that many shoppers.
Period. Not just shoppers for her stuff.
- 6:00 pm
- We've eaten dinner. Perhaps this is my lucky day! I've had
two meat meals in one day! Yummy! My body has been low on protein I'm
sure. Too bad those protein drinks don't taste better... Oops. Tangent
Girl to the rescue! Hmm.. Go away Tangent Girl. I want to finish this
time slot! hehehe. I suggest playing that card game, Palace. Mom
agrees.
- 7:00 pm
- Still playing Palace.
- 8:00 pm
- Still playing Palace. hehehe
- 8:45 pm
- Twenty-five games later, Mom is victorious. Umm, I'm not
saying she wasn't winning tons of games and then I'd win tons of games,
but it umm... crap... I lost my train of thought. It's a long day.
So, Mom and I have been giggly for 2 + hours. I think we are slap
happy. I can't explain it. Maybe there was something in the food!
hehehe
- 9:00 pm
- Mom drives me home. I'm pooped. It's been a long day.
Granted, playing those cards for so long helped the day wind down. Umm,
if you don't count all that laughing. Laughing for not apparent reason.
Laughing just to hear the other person laugh. That sorta laughing is fun.
I haven't done that in a long time.
- 9:30 pm
- I start chatting with Ryan (because ICQ is working again!
Yay!) It's nice to end my day like this. A good end to a good day. :)
